XV International Academic Conference ‘Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy’organized by HSE University Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge took place on 12-14 November 2025.  This year programme included nine thematic sessions and special workshop for BRICS countries. The conference traditionally became a platform for discussing the future of technology, transformation of labor markets, creative economy, role of artificial intelligence, and sustainable development, bringing together experts around the world from: Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Indonesia, Australia, the UK, Malaysia and other countries.

During the last week of November 2025, Dr. Dirk Meissner, Distinguished Professor and Academic Supervisor of the Master’s Programme “Science, Technology and Innovation Management and Policy”, represented HSE University at two major academic events in China. His visit reinforced the programme’s international presence and highlighted its commitment to advancing international dialogue in science, technology and innovation (STI) management.

International workshop ‘Foresight and STI Policy: Recent Findings’ with participation of delegation from Malaysia organized by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge took place at the HSE University. The parties exchanged experiences implementing research projects in science, technology, and innovation and discussed promising areas for further cooperation.

A new Collective Working Paper titled “Being Innovative or Being on the Safe Side – Managing the Risk of Failure” has just been published as part of HSE University’s Basic Research Program – Science, Technology and Innovation series.

The International Foresight Session on AI development trends was held at M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University with the organizational and methodological support of the Foresight Center, Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge, National Research University Higher School of Economics. Leading foreign and Russian scientists took part in the event.

In the framework of world science structure mapping the HSE University Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) for the first time has identified the most relevant for Russia research and development topics using a system of intelligent analysis of big data iFORA.

Experts from HSE University took part in the BRICS Academic Forum (FABRICS) held in the capital of Brazil this year. The main theme of the event was to discuss cooperation among countries in the Global South amid geopolitical turbulence and rapid technological change. Academics and experts from BRICS member states and partner nations explored topics such as global healthcare, AI technologies, trade, climate change, and reform of the multilateral global security and governance architecture.

Expert Seminar on comprehensive study outcomes of AI development promising areas conducted in 2024 took place at HSE University Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK). Attendees discussed methodological approaches to determining AI development priorities in research planned for 2025.

The articles in latest issue of the Foresight journal (V. 19, № 2) analyze factors that determine the effectiveness of innovative entrepreneurship ecosystems, new tools for assessing their prospects and developing a competence base.

The 25th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development brought together leading Russian and Western scientists. Among the guests was Jose Luis Cordeiro, PhD, international fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, Chair of the Millennium Project's Venezuela node, former professor at MIPT and HSE University, and author of The Death of Death.
